Huskies Nip Jackets

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Men's Lacrosse Team hosted the Northeastern University Huskies on Saturday.  The two programs have faced several times in recent years with the away team winning each game.  The Jackets started fast building a 4-0 lead in the first quarter before the Huskies scored two late goals taking advantage of Yellow Jacket mistakes.

The Jackets added three more in the second quarter while the Huskies scored an extra man goal.

In the third quarter the Jackets could not maintain possession and the Huskies hounded the Jackets into multiple failed clears and won the majority of contested ground balls.  As a result the Jackets only added one tally in the quarter while the Huskies scored three to bring the game to 8-6 entering the fourth.

The Huskies continued their run eventually taking a 9-8 lead in the fourth.  The Jackets stormed back and built an 11-9 lead with 7:09 remaining.  The Huskies would not be denied however and fought back to tie the game with 2:37 remaining.  The Jackets had a possession to close the regulation but could not break through

The Huskies won the opening faceoff of overtime but the Jackets held them off initially.  The Jackets once again failed to secure possession in their offensive end failing to clear three times in overtime.  The Huskies took advantage of the extra possession and scored the game winner with 1:32 remaining in overtime.

It's a quick turnaround for the Jackets who face Alabama on the road on Sunday for their first region game of the season.
